Commitment to China
RTKL's culturally sensitive approach to design has been one of our greatest
assets in the international arena. During the early 1990s we were one of the
first international design firms to be involved with design work in China and
in 2003 we registered RTKL Architectural Design Consulting (Shanghai) Co.,
Ltd. as our WOFE (Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise). Over these years,
we have established and maintained long-lasting relationships with not only
our clients and developers, but also the municipal/provincial planning
bureaus and local design institutes that traditionally serve as our design
consultant or executive architect. We have also nurtured ties with local
academic communities, establishing an influential network of local experts
and scholars who play a decisive advisory role in our projects in China.
The creative staff of our Shanghai office now numbers more than 50.
These design and administrative professionals are engaged in master
planning and architectural services for a variety of projects throughout China.
